5 years is the normal duration of highschool in italy, you can technically drop out when you are 18 but obviously you’ll be not getting the diploma (which i wouldn’t really recommend lol).

and also about the finals: the date are decided on a national level and the first exam (writing an essay in italian starting from some prompts) is the same everywhere and for all kinds of school.
